Character Profile:
Abena "Liza" Dagate is a young woman with an obsessive personality that compels her to organize her surroundings to maddening degrees of order. As a young girl in primary school in Ghana, she constantly complained about any inefficiency in teachers' programs or even in the school cafeteria's serving method. When her parents died, Liza moved to Harlem in New York City to live with her aunt and uncle. There she adopted her traditional name of Abena and quit calling herself Liza as she had in school. She was anxious to show her traditional identity in her new world.

When Liza arrived, her aunt and uncle were in danger of losing their home to gentrification. Her aunt was selling some items to the local pawnshop, including an old gemstone. Suddenly, Musawwira the Organizer was born. She could see clearly what forms to file, in what order, and how to deal with the banks in order to save the family home. She then resolved to use that ability to help other longstanding Harlem natives to stay in their homes.

Eventually, Musawwira found her compulsions too challenging, and sought peace in Batina the Hidden's Himalayan retreat. That is where THE 99 encountered her for the first time.
