The Gulf News, one of the prominent newspapers in the UAE, recently carried an article on the first TEDx conference in the Middle East held on October 10, 2009 at The Palladium in Dubai Media City. Innovation, the power to dream big, persistence and optimism were the overriding themes for the day. The creator of THE 99 superheroes, Dr. Naif Al-Mutawa was one of the speakers at the conference. He recalled the struggles he faced to launch THE 99 comic series which is now a best-seller.
