Character Profile:
John Weller was a promising young man with a bright future ahead of him—until a drunk driver collided with his car, killing his family and paralyzing John from the waist down. Confined to a wheelchair, John because disillusioned and bitter.

One of the hospital nurses gave John a special stone, thinking that the pretty gem might have certain spiritual qualities that would help John heal his scarred psyche. John was skeptical, but after receiving the stone, found himself able to cause physical pain just by focusing his hatred on any living target, human or animal.

John reveled in his new power. He began using it to punish people who had caused vehicular homicides. He took particularly harsh revenge on the driver who had killed his family, causing a seizure that left the man catatonic. Eventually, he also learned to take away pain.

Darr remains confined to his wheelchair, though Jami has modified it into a multi-functional mechanical device. He is troubled character, but before his accident, he was a sensitive young man and a gifted storyteller. Those traits still live inside him.
