THE 99 are the world's first superhero team based on Islamic culture and history. The team features 99 characters from 99 different countries and each character's powers reflect one of the traditional 99 attributes of Allah in Islam. THE 99 looks at the lives of individual characters from many different cultures and backgrounds. These characters find themselves transformed from ordinary human beings into superpowered heroes.

THE 99 are a team of superheroes gathered by Dr. Ramzi Razem to fight for a better world. Among their first members are Jabbar, Noora, Darr, Mumita, Jami, Fatah and Hadya. Look for profiles of each of the members of THE 99 under "THE 99" tab on our homepage.

In the MENA region and North America, THE 99 is published by Teshkeel Comics. In Indonesia and Malaysia, THE 99 is published by the Femina Group. To learn more about Teshkeel Comics, please visit www.teshkeelcomics.com.

THE 99 characters first debuted in a special giant-sized issue in the MENA region (Middle East/North Africa) in May 2006. This special was followed by a regular monthly series in the MENA region that started in September 2006.

Then, THE 99 made its US debut in the summer of 2007, with two 48-page specials, THE 99: ORIGINS and THE 99: FIRST LIGHT. The ongoing monthly series launched in the US in October 2007.

In addition, THE 99 launched in Indonesia in September 2007.

THE 99 is available at numerous outlets throughout the world.

No. THE 99 is a comic book series based on Islamic culture and history. Much as Western heroes reflect underlying Western values, and Asian heroes reflect underlying Asian values, THE 99 is based on underlying Islamic values which -- in truth -- are universal.

Teshkeel doesn't keep track of the secondary (back issue) market for comic books. You can find out the value of your comics by checking the OVERSTREET PRICE GUIDE, a reference publication available through most comic and booksellers or your local library.

There are numerous colleges and universities offering creative writing or art courses. A solid grounding in the basics of your selected craft (rather than comic book specific training) is essential for success in the comics field.

There are a number of terrific books on how to become a comic book professional. Both HOW TO DRAW COMICS THE MARVEL WAY by Stan Lee and John Buscema and DC "Guide" series (available from Amazon and other online retailers) are essential reading for aspiring professionals.

In addition, the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon Art is an invaluable resource for aspiring artists. They even teach classes by mail!

Teshkeel offers internships in our New York City office. These are unpaid internships in conjunction with recognized school programs. If you are interested in interning with Teshkeel, please send us an inquiry letter along with the following information:

i) Information for your school or program describing program participation requirements.
ii) A copy of your current resume.
iii) An outline of the dates when you want to intern and your availability during regular office hours.
