What is the concept behind THE 99?
THE 99 are the world's first superhero team based on Islamic culture and history. The team features 99 characters from 99 different countries and each character's powers reflect one of the traditional 99 attributes of Allah in Islam. THE 99 looks at the lives of individual characters from many different cultures and backgrounds. These characters find themselves transformed from ordinary human beings into superpowered heroes.
Who are THE 99?
THE 99 are a team of superheroes gathered by Dr. Ramzi Razem to fight for a better world. Among their first members are Jabbar, Noora, Darr, Mumita, Jami, Fatah and Hadya. Look for profiles of each of the members of THE 99 under "THE 99" tab on our homepage.
Who publishes THE 99?

When was THE 99 first published?
THE 99 characters first debuted in a special giant-sized issue in the MENA region (Middle East/North Africa) in May 2006. Is THE 99 a religious comic book series?
No. THE 99 is a comic book series based on Islamic culture and history. Much as Western heroes reflect underlying Western values, and Asian heroes reflect underlying Asian values, THE 99 is based on underlying Islamic values which -- in truth -- are universal.
Can I use a graphic of one of THE 99 characters for my website?
We do allow use of THE 99 characters on private, non-profit, non-commercial websites. Teshkeel doesn't keep track of the secondary (back issue) market for comic books. You can find out the value of your comics by checking the OVERSTREET PRICE GUIDE, a reference publication available through most comic and booksellers or your local library.

There are numerous colleges and universities offering creative writing or art courses.
