Three years of non-stop publicity led to self-described comic aficionado Naif Al-Mutawa speaking to a group of about 100 at the All Dulles Area Muslim Society on the evening of Friday, Jan. 11.
Mutawa, founder of Kuwait-based Teshkeel Comics, and the pioneer of the new comic series, “The 99,” gave a speech which focused largely on a contingent of audience members aged 8 and under. To say he was excited would be an understatement. He found himself explaining his new comic in terms that the kids would understand, namely Batman, Superman, and Pokemon.
