 It is commendable that you should attempt to create a group of superheroes that would have an Islamic background. Not only does it give young Muslims a sense of pride in heroes they can read about, but it also gives a diversity lesson to those of us who are not Muslim in thinking about those who are in a different light to which we are accustomed. . . .

Now Teshkeel Comics has come along with THE 99, a superhero comic based on Islamic culture and religion. Islamska hjältar vann pris
Förra veckan belönades den islamska serien THE 99 på seriefestivalen i Recife, Brasilien.
Priset, FIHQ, gick till seriens grundare Dr Naif Al-Mutawa som startat förlaget Teshkeel Media Group som ger ut serien.
Blaff har tidigare skrivit en artikel om serien THE 99 som är en superhjälteserie som bygger på den islamska kulturen.
Teshkeel Media Group samarbeter för övrigt med Marvel och försöker sprida de marvelska serierna i Mellanöstern.

Arts & Culture Leaders Seminar
Filmmakers, musicians, authors, historians and artists gathered at the US Islamic World Forum in Doha on February 18 to discuss how artistic and cultural communities could contribute to improving understanding and relations between the United States and the Islamic world. One participant, Naif A. Al-Mutawa, had tackled the problem of the absence of role models through his comic books “The 99” which feature heroes based on Allah’s ninety-nine positive traits.
